How challenging would a Master of Public Health program be for a Biology major / Chemistry minor? I just started my Masters program in Biomedical Engineering and it's way over my head, mainly due to the very advanced molecular biochemistry and engineering courses (I've never had any engineering classes before - just basic physics). My other choice was MPH, and I've already been accepted to such a program, but chose the BME one instead. I am now strongly considering switching into the MPH program. However, I don't want to get myself into the same situation. I graduated with a Bio major and Chem minor. I've had introductory statistics as part of that coursework, and have taken a few random public health electives. Does anyone know if I would be getting into something I'm not prepared for again, or would this be something I am more prepared for?
Does America have the ability to go to a cheap universal health program? Canada and France have amazing health programs, and many times people blame it on the way that they have universal health coverage. With the politicians being in the pockets of the big drug corperations, do we have the ability to have a universal health plan that wont put half of America into poverty? Okay so far we have 1 person using this question to complain about the war, 1 person using this question to complain about illegal immigrants, 1 person calling me an idiot, and 1 person actually answering the question. Yay Yahoo Answers.
Is the neuroscience prgram at Brock university or the health science program at Waterloo better? I have been accepted to the University of Waterloo for Health science, the University of Toronto for Life science, McMaster University for Science I (neuroscience), York University for the Biomedical program, Ryerson University for Biology, and Brock University for neuroscience. I am currently in the process of selecting Brock University or the University of Waterloo. I have been told not to attend Brock University due to the university's reputation. Can someone please tell me which program is better for a student who is planning on getting into medical school after two years. Which program is better, neuroscience or health science? Which university is better, Brock or Waterloo?
How much more can I expect to pay in taxes if a universal health program is put into place? With the 2008 presidential elections on the horizon I have noticed that many of the Democrats are discupushing for health care reform (something that is needed). What they fail to mention is who will be paying for it and how much it will raise my taxes. So I am wondering if raise our taxes to the heights of Canada and Europe putting us (working & middle class) close to a 50% bracket. Any thoughts would be appreciated (especially from the candidates).
Do you favor a national health care program? I'm not necessarily talking about any of the candidate's programs, but do you favor a national health care program of some sort? Single-payer or mixed? Just curious what the majority of people would say.

For those who have done/know a lot about the Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program. Worth it? I want to be a doctor, and the Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program seems like a great way to stay out of debit. Is this program worth it? Will I still be able to start my own practice after I come out of active duty? Will I see combat? Are scholarships hard to get? Would it be better just to get other money to cover med school expenses? Is doing residency in the Navy still prestigious?
Which presidential candidate has a TRUE universal health care program worthy of our vote? Universal Health Care is a MUST for our futures. Anyone who disputes this can afford health care and/or doesnt want to help out other people and is completely selfish. I've seen some of the debating, but I'm confused by it all. I thought Hillary Clinton had good ideas, but now Im starting to wonder if she is actually going to follow through. So... Who do YOU think is the best candidate that will give us Universal Health Care, and why?

All - these were all EXTREMELY good answers. Thank you and good day.
Anyone Familiar with Minnesota Care health care program/insurance? I had MN Care, which isn't Medical Assistance through the county, but more like a program for people who are under income guidlines but over the income guidlines for Medical Assistance (free health insurance throught county) for a few months, paid my premiums on time, then my husband was suppose to get new insurance through work and I let my insurance cancel, as in I just didn't pay anymore. Now I want to redo it but I'm not sure if I have to reapply or can I renew? I'm not sure what to do, but I have a LOT of dental work coming up and need this approved ASAP. Yes, I do have dental coverage and no I didn't get the insurance through my husband. WAY too much money every week.

If we adopted a universal health care insurance program, what do you think would be the first steps? I am just curious, I am for it, but how would one mandate it? scredawg, the doctors would be back, there is no where for them to go, as for the corporations, well a few tax incentives would fix that. You did not understand my question, I said universal health insurance. The doctors will still have a private office, not owned by the government, The health insurance would be private where the government pays part the insured pays part, figured by income, and every ind. would have a co-pay, and a prescription card with a co-pay. Only difference would be is every citizen in the United states would be covered, no one would be left out. I know that many have this stand point, I have health care and I do not want anything to effect it, let the ones without be without I don't care, I believe it is a community problem. Truth is doctors took an oath, means nothing because most of them become doctors just to get rich not to save lives, If we can send billions of dollars to other countries to help them with their health care, why can we not give our own people some aid in their health care. Tell you the truth, That is some of the worst attributes of people that already have good health care.! You did not understand my question, I said universal health insurance. Tell you the truth, That is some of the worst attributes of people that already have good health care.! I wonder why it posted 2 times? I want you to understand something, you say a one year wait time for cancer in England, I met a guy the other day, here in Florida, he has prostate cancer. He is 35, looks 40, and homeless. He is not a drug addict, he just cannot hold a job because he has no skill to speak of and gets sick do to his cancer. He said no doctor will touch him, no doctor will give him the surgery. He said every one of them asked do you have INSURANCE!!! So I tell you this most Americans live pay check to pay check and two weeks from poverty. Moreover, They have to make choices like do I pay for insurance or do I put food on the table and pay rent. I have to say simper Fi, and at the same time tell you you are a self centered SOB. Tell someone who can't get treated at all, or can't get the medications because he can't get insurance that he does not want universal health insurance because he might have to wait a year. The man has had cancer for 1.5 years and no treatment. If we had universal health Insurance he would have already been treated not put out in the pasture to die. WHY CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT IS WRONG! Yeah, I have noticed that when the Republicans talk about how we do not want Universal health insurance because of long waits to get health care, they do not consider the people that do not get any health care now!

It is a distance education program and I am enrolling in the respiratory therapy program. They are fully accredited however I cannot find anyone who has attended and I can't seem to find out their percentage of students that pass the NBRC exam. Does anyone know? The cost is $7,200 for the first year including books. Thanks for the tip to contact NBRC website for school passing rates. I checked already but didn't see anything. do you know where it is on the website?
Will someone supporting the democrats universal health care insurance program please answer? Currently some 40 million people don't have health insurance and pretty much avoid the doctor unless its an emergency; so if you give them insurance and they can now see the doctor - how much longer are we all going to have to wait to see the doctor? I mean it takes a few weeks to get important tests done now - how long after we start competing the the formerly uninsured?
Massachusetts Mandatory Health Care Insurance Program? The Massachusetts government implemented a Mandatory Health Care Insurance Program in order to boost Health care Insurance providers revenue. Those who choose not to abide by the new law will be subject to penalty. I am a Canadian working in Massachusetts. Will I be punished if I stick with my Canadian Health care Plan? I am Massachusetts resident too. I pay Federal and states tax.
